Hello Todd,
Yes, over time small roots will tack into the ground and pull moisture and nutrients, but remember, the ground is a fabulous filter! I assume you are at least 3-4 feet away from your neighbors system? If you are worried about it, we suggest a tray or tarp under your Smart Pot.
Also, a Smart Pot is made to be moved! You can move your Smart Pot to just about anywhere in your yard and your plants will thrive!

A worthwhile investment as these pots don’t stretch out like almost all other brands. I have many Jaboticaba that now need to be transplanted into Smart Pots. In short, save yourself the headache and get it from the main vine.
